First award for Embrace Life

Embrace Life takes on giants of global advertising at the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards

OK, so this is going to be brief because I’ve got a stack of calls to take.

Embrace Life has just won a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards (Digital and Interactive category). Gold. For our ‘little’ project. I still can’t quite believe it.

We were up against some of the biggest and most respected names in the advertising industry and our campaign – which was only ever designed to run in Sussex (but which has since been viewed over 12.456 million times, been broadcast on CNN, at TED etc) – was judged to be one of the best.

For more info, read the official press release here. And if you haven’t seen it yet, watch it on YouTube. You can read my take on its inception and growth on this blog too.

This is amazing. Staggering. And it all goes to show what the power of an idea can do.

Thank you to all who worked on it, gave up time for it, sweated blood over it. Thank you to the Writer/Director Daniel Cox and the Producer Sarah Alexander.

But most of all, thank to you the people who watched it, shared it, talked about it and spread it across the internet.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

    • Hi Mike

Thanks so much – really appreciate your comment! I did receive your email a while back but have been so snowed under I haven’t had the chance to reply. Apologies – I’m not ignoring you! Will try to get a few moments to reply in a considered fashion soon!

      • No worries Neil. I remember when we won a NY Film Festival Award, I was booked for the next 6 months of magazine and TV (web wasn’t around yet). Strap in and enjoy the ride!

  1. OK if I use a screen grab from your video for a feature story here in West Palm Beach on your win?

We have a ClickItOrTicket campaign that is starting to work but our county has the 3rd highest death rate in Florida for not using seat belts. I think they should license your video from you and run it here. I’m going to send the article link to our Dept of Transportation communications and public affairs folks.

  2. Neil:

Here’s the link. Took your international story and localized it. Sending the link to the Florida Dept. of Transportation Communication Directors. Thanks again for great work and helping with this article:

  3. Congratulations, well deserved. If there is a greater accolade than this then it deserves to win that as well.

  4. Congratulations again, truly a remarkable achievement, things normally come in 3’s so what’s next.
Question is, “How do you top that?” If you can and do succeed in doing so then that really will be a phenomenal achievement!

So - what did you think? Love it? Loathe it? Have something to add? Well, what are you waiting for?
